METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS—1954.
I am indebted to the Director of the National Maritime Museum
and, in particular, to Eng. Commander H. O. Hill, R.N., for the
following meteorological data for the year ended December, 1954 :—
Temperature:
The highest screen temperature 83°F. on 1st September.
The temperature exceeded 80°F. on 27th May (81 °F.)
1st Sept. (83°F.)
The lowest screen temperature was 17°F. on 28th January.
The maximum temperatures during January, February,
November and December were : 57°F. on 15th January
54°F. on 22nd February
61 °F. on 6th November
59°F. on 2nd December
Sunshine :
Total hours recorded 1,248.9
The sunniest day was 26th May, when 13.1 hours of sunshine
were recorded.
There were 65 days when no sunshine was recorded, viz :—
