A slight increase in the amount of meat consigned to the Borough has
been noticed and one or two more wholesale butchers shops have opened
during the year.
Consignments of Scandinavian Offals and Continental Offals continue
to be consigned and often condemnations of these have taken place.
The collection of unsound meat and other foodstuffs continues to be
satisfactorily collected by Messrs Henson and Burbidge Ltd., Matusa Works,
Beckton, who render down this unsound food for technical purposes.
During the year the meat inspector carried out a 100% examination of
Argentine Beef Livers, for a parasitic disease (Echinococcus) and the result
was as follows:
Examined Condemned Weight
3,392 cartons Beef Livers. 2,654 Beef Livers 26,726 lbs.
The percentage of Beef Livers found to be diseased was approximately
14.9%.
During the course of the year 258 certificates were issued for the

to disease and other conditions, which appeared to be fairly satisfactory.
