ENTERIC FEVER (PARATYPHOID):
There were no cases or contacts of Paratyphoid Fever during
1961.
ENTERIC FEVER (TYPHOID):
There were no cases or contacts of Typhoid Fever during 1961.
ERYSIPELAS:
There were ten notified cases of Erysipelas during the year.
Six of these were moderately severe, and four mild. Five cases
were removed to hospital. There were no deaths. The parts
affected were Facial 8, Legs 2.
CHICKEN POX:
Chicken Pox has occurred in 33 known cases during 1961. None
were severe,, and all made satisfactory progress, There were no
complications.
GASTROENTERITIS (over 2 years):
There were 5 known cases of Gastro-Enteritis during 1961. No
organisms were isolated in specimens, and there was no contact
between the cases. All made very satisfactory progress.
GASTRO-ENTERITIS (under 2 years):
There were 26 cases notified of which 8 were moderately severe,
and 18 mild cases. No organisms were isolated in the faeces. 7
cases were removed to hospital, and all made a good recovery.
INFECTIVE HEPATITIS:
During 1961 67 cases of Infective Hepatitis came to the notice
of this Department. Of these 20 were adults. All were quite ill,
and the infection was spread over the Borough. They all made
slow but satisfactory progress. There were no deaths.
GLANDULAR FEVER:
There were two known cases during 1961. No known contact
between the cases. Both were removed to hospital, and made
satisfactory progress.
MALARIA:
There were no cases of Malaria in the Borough during 1961.
