DIPHTHERIA:
At the beginning of the year a resident of this Borough
attended a school in another Borough where there were some positive
cases of Diphtheria. Swabs were taken of the family and all
had 3 negative Nose and Throat swabs.
There were no further cases or contacts during 1961.
DYSENTERY:
There were 81 cases notified. Of these 44 were clinical cases
with positive bacteriological findings. 8 were symptomless cases,
29 were moderately severe clinical cases with negative bacteriological
findings; and in all 15 cases were removed to hospital.
ENCEPHALITIS:
There were no cases or contacts of this infection during 1961.
