REPAIR OF HOUSES UNDER THE HOUSING ACT:
No action has been taken since the war owing to the difficulties
involved.
CONVERSIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS
Comparatively little older property in the Borough has been
reconstructed so as to bring it into line with modern standards, and
little advantage has been taken of grants available under the Housing
Act, The list of the properties in which such improvements have been
made in the last five years is given below Those completed in 1960
have been denoted by an asterisk and indication is also given of grants
made in each case where this applies

Two applications for improvement grants were rejected, and in
three other cases informal enquiries were not proceeded with. Provisional
approval was also given in 1960 to two applications for
improvement involving in each instance 12 flats, and one application
for a standard grant involving 24 flats.
