Erysipelas:
There were 7 cases notified. The parts affected were:-
Pace 5
Leg 1
Ankle 1.
Three were moderately severe, and four were mild. Three cases
were removed to hospital* All made a satisfactory recovery.
Scarlet Fever:
There were 69 notified cases. Five were moderately severe
and 64 were mild. 31 cases were removed to hospital. There were
no complications and all made a satisfactory recovery.
Measles:
There were 585 cases notified and in addition five cases
were otherwise reported giving a total of 590. Of these 436
occurred in the first Quarter.
In all 5 cases were severe and 315 moderately severe. 52
cases were removed to hospital. Complications occurred in 18
cases (6 of Pneumonia and 12 of Bronchitis), but all made a
satisfactory recovery.
Whooping Cough:
There were 17 cases notified. 10 were moderately severe and
7 mild. Two cases were removed to hospital. There were no
complications or deaths, and all made a satisfactory recovery.
Acute Primary and Influenzal Pneumonias.
There were 75 notified cases of these pneumonias, 65 were
of acute primary pneumonia and 10 of acute influenzal pneumonia.
19 were severe and 56 moderately severe. 74 were removed to
hospital and 1 was nursed at home. There were 3 deaths - all
acute influenzal pneumonia cases.
Scabies:
17 cases were notified during the year.
Dysentery:
There were 45 cases notified. Of these 13 were clinical
cases with positive bacteriological findings, 14 were symptonless
cases with positive bacteriological findings, 18 were moderately
severe clinical cases with negative bacteriological findings. In
all 11 cases were removed to hospital.
