Tuesday afternoon (special) clinic.
During the year 1934, 51 sessions were held with an average
attendance of 17 per clinic. 740 new cases were seen and the total
attendances numbered 866.
Wassermann reactions.
Blood was taken for the Wassermann reaction in 727 cases, of
which 5, or under 1 per cent., gave a positive reaction.
Gynecological cases.
In addition to the above a large number of gynaecological cases
were seen, in some cases, the lesion complicating pregnancy, in
others occurring in post-natal cases, while several cases were referred
simply for diagnosis or an opinion—e.g. sterility, diagnosis of
pregnancy, &c. The cases seen and treated included the following:
Vaginal discharge(complicating pregnancy or
occurring in postnatal cases) 62 cases.
(N.B.—This number refers to total examinations made,
and includes in many cases repeated treatments, film examinations,
&c.)
Retroversion of the gravid uterus(cases seen on
several occasions) 4 cases.
For diagnosis of pregnancy 21 ,,
For prolapse, changing of rings 14 „
Other cases seen at this clinic included cases for catheter
specimens, special albuminuria cases, cases for blood pressure
examinations(these however are usually carried out as a routine
in the ante-natal clinics.)
Versions under anæsthesia.
It is after this clinic on Tuesdays that examinations under
anaesthesia, e.g., for version—are carried out.
During 1934, 22 examinations under anaesthesia were carried
out:—
for diagnosis of presentation 3 cases.
for external version 19 ,,
(successfully-—11 cases, unsuccessfully—8 cases.)
