No case was traceable to the consumption of shell fish; there
was only 1 fatality from this disease.
Twelve specimens were forwarded by medical practitioners for
bacteriological examination from cases suspected to be Typhoid
Fever in character, 5 giving positive results.
Puerperal Fever.—Nine cases of this disease were notified
during the year, 5 in East Greenwich, 2 in West Greenwich, and 2 in
Charlton.
There were 6 cases in 1924, 9 cases in 1923, 6 cases in 1922, and
11 cases in 1921. There was 1 death from this disease during the
year.
Measles.—This disease was made permanently notifiable by
an Order of this Council, approved by the Ministry on the 1st July.
1920.
One thousand six hundred and ten cases were notified during
the year, as compared with 1874 during the previous year, and 706
for the year 1923. One hundred and eight such cases were removed
to Hospital for treatment.
The ages and incidence of fatality of the disease were as follows :
There were 53 cases under 1 year of age, with 5 deaths at this
age period, giving a case mortality of 9 4 per cent. Between the
ages of one to five years there were 656 cases with 14 deaths at this
age period, giving a case mortality of 2.1 per cent, and 901 cases
between five years and sixty-five with 2 deaths, giving a case
mortality of .02 per cent.
The case mortality for the whole district works out at 1.3 per
cent. as compared with 1.4 per cent. for the previous year, and .28
for the year 1923.
