In 1890 and 1891 fewer cases were recorded, viz., 32
and 46 respectively, all the remaining years having
higher totals, the maximum having been in 1893
(148). The totals for last year were equivalent to a
rate of 2.68 per 1,000 in North and one of 1.49 in
South Paddington, whilst the reduction in the
prevalence, compared with the annual averages for
the eight years, 1890-97, were 39.7 and 36.7 respectively.
