lishment of a business firm. Setting aside those cases,
the numbers reported from individual houses were
as follows:—
From 166 houses 1 case each ;

It may be remarked that in the case of the house
whence 6 cases were reported, 4 were reported at the
beginning of the year, and 2 at the end, these latter
being, however, subsequently certified as erroneously
diagnosed. The house reported as having 8 attacks
was the Infirmary, where the series of cases commenced
with the illness of a nurse engaged in a
children's ward.
Of the cases reported from South Paddington, 7
were due to imported infection, 2 followed the homecoming
of patients from hospital, and one was erroneously
diagnosed. From four streets only were
more than three cases reported, viz., Queen's Gardens
(4), Queen's Road (4), and Star Street (5). The
numbers reported from individual houses were as
follow:—

From an examination of the circumstances under
which the secondary cases occurred last year, it
would appear that in one instance only was there
