BIRTHS.
The total number of births belonging to the borough registered
during 1949 was 1,140 consisting of 579 males and 561 females. The
number for 1948 was 1,218. The birth-rate for 1949 was 18.9 per
thousand persons living, compared with 20.2 for 1948.
