Borough of Bermondsey.
ANNUAL REPORT
OF THE
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the Borough of
Bermondsey.
Sir, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit my Annual Report for the year
1949. In accordance with the prevailing need for economy it takes
the form of a statistical summary. The changes consequent upon
the National Health Service Act have now been in force eighteen
months or so, but in my opinion it is still too early to make any useful
comment. The outstanding need in the borough at the present
time is the need for proper housing accommodation, and improvement
in this direction is painfully slow.
I would like once again to thank both the Council and the
staff for their kindness and consideration during the past year.
I am, Sir, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
D.M.CONNAN.
