Paralysis, 3 from General Paralysis of the Insane, 7 from Cerebral
Tumour, 4 from Epilepsy, 1 from Encephalitis, 7 from Diseases of
Spinal Cord, 3 from Softening of Brain, 2 from Locomotor Ataxy,
and 8 from other diseases of thi3 system.
Organs of Special Sense.—There were 5 deaths from this
class of causes, equal to a rate of .04 per 1,000.
Circulatory System.—The Death Rate from diseases of this
system was 137 per 1,000, there being a total of 139 such deaths.
Valvular diseases of the Heart were responsible for 116, 3 from
Aneurism, 6 from Embolism, 4 from Angina Pectoris and from the
remaining diseases of this system, 10.
Respiratory System.—Two hundred and ninety-six deaths
were due to diseases of the respiratory organs, as compared with
217 in the preceding year. The Death Rate under this heading
equals 2.91 per 1,000. Twenty were from Acute and 112 from
Chronic Bronchitis, 154 from the various forms of Pneumonia,
66 being under five years of age, 3 from Emphysema, 3 from Pleurisy,
and 4 from other diseases.
Digestive System.—There were 46 deaths from diseases of
this system, equal to a rate of .45 per 1,000. Of this number,
Enteritis was responsible for 3, all of whom were under five years of
age, 9 to Appendicitis, 8 to Obstruction, and 2 to other diseases of
the Intestines, 4 to Cirrhosis, and 4 to other diseases of the Liver,
1 to Peritonitis, 9 to Ulcer of Stomach and Duodenum, 4 to other
diseases of Stomach, 1 to diseases of the Mouth and Annexa, and 1
to other diseases of the Digestive System.
Lymphatic System.—There were 4 deaths from diseases affecting
this system during the year.
Urinary System.—Thirty-three deaths, equal to a rate of .32
per 1,000, occurred from diseases affecting this system. Twentynine
were from Bright's Disease, 2 from diseases of the Bladder and
Prostate, and 2 from ill-defined causes of the urinary system.
Reproductive System.—There were only 6 deaths due to
diseases of the Generative Organs. There were 3 deaths attributed
to diseases of Parturition.
Bones and Joints.—There were 9 deaths from diseases of bones
and joints.
