DISTRICT INSPECTORS' WORK.
Synopsis of the Inspectors Work.—The following statement gives
d brief synopsis of the district inspector's work in 1915:—
House to house inspections 105
Other inspections of dwelling houses 6,560
Re-inspections and calls made 47,535
Visits of inquiry re notifiable infectious diseases 2,210

Notices Served.—There were 2,782 intimation notices served by the
inspectors with respect to nuisances, of which 1,194 were delivered personally
and 1,588 by post. In 308 instances it became necessary, as the intimations
had not been attended to, to report the nuisances to the Public Health Committee,
who ordered statutory notices to be served, of which 58 were delivered
personally and 250 by registered letter post.
Nuisances Discovered. The following table shows the principal
nuisances discovered by the District Sanitary Inspectors, and clearly
demonstrates the important character of the work carried out under their supervision:-
