INSPECTION OF HOUSES LET IN LODGINGS.
1,240 houses were inspected during the year, to which 7,341 visits were
subsequently made, so that the total visits amounted to 8,587.
These inspections resulted in 825 intimations being given to the responsible
persons, while 205 Statutory Notices were served to enforce the abatement of
nuisances that had not been remedied.
The total improvements effected as a result of the sanitary defects or
nuisances discovered, was 4,069, and the premises improved numbered 1,533.
Synopsis of Inspectors Work.—In abating the nuisances the following
work became necessary:—
