The duties of sanitary authorities in relation to factories are
few and limited mainly to the enforcement of suitable and sufficient
sanitary accommodation for factory employes.
During 1912, 38 defects were found on factory premises, for the
most part relating to unsuitable and insufficient sanitary accommodation
or to defects in sanitary fittings and appliances. In only 6
cases was it found necessary to serve notices to remedy defects, all
of which were complied with.
Fifteen new factory premises were inspected and added to the
register during the year. All were found to be provided with
suitable and sufficient sanitary accommodation except in one
instance, which was subsequently remedied.
