Marriages.
The marriages registered in Battersea during 1912 numbers
1,434, and 58 more than the decennial average. The marriagerate,
i.e., the number of persons married per 1,000 of the population
was 171, or 1-7 above the decennial average.
Deaths.
The total number of deaths registered in the Borough of
Battersea during the year 1912 was 2,125, as compared with 2,437
during 1911, and a yearly average of 2,849 in the old Parish of
Battersea for the decennium 1891-1900. Of the total deaths
registered, 1,110 were males and 1,015 females, showing an excess
of 95 males.
The death-rate for Battersea is therefore 12-7 per 1,000 inhabitants,
as compared with 13-6 for London. This rate is,
however, uncorrected, and on analysing the 2,125 deaths registered
in the Borough of Battersea, it is found that 530 represent
deaths occurring within the Borough amongst persons not belonging
thereto. These deaths are to be deducted; but on the
other hand there are 457 deaths of Battersea residents, and these
must be added, giving a corrected number of deaths for Battersea
during 1911 of 2,052 (1,039 males and 1,013 females, an excess
of 26 males), and a corrected death-rate of 12 2, as compared with
13 6 for London (the total corrected number of London deaths
being 61A 00).
