Deaths.—The number of deaths registered in the Borough during
1909 was 3,123, but of these 442 were deaths of non-residents, that
is of persons belonging to other districts but dying in Institutions
in the Borough. But on the other hand, there were 447 Hackney
residents who died during the same period in the Institutions outside
the Borough. Making the necessary corrections by subtracting 442
from and adding 447 to the total 3,123 we obtain the correct
number, viz. 3,128 amongst Hackney residents during the year 1909.
This total shows a decline of three deaths upon the number
registered during 1908. The general rate from all causes for the
year 1909 is therefore 132 per 1,000 of the estimated population.
