2s. 11½d. per ton for the first three months of the year, and at the
rate of 3s. 3¾d. per ton for the remaining months of the year, and
the total cost for the disposal alone of the house refuse for the
Borough for the year at £6,187 12s. 7d. Adding this to the cost of
removal, we get a total of £14,634 15s. 1d. for removal and disposal
of the house refuse during 1908. Compared with the year 1907 this
shows an increased cost of £208 7s. 4d. upon the total cost for the
latter year. Distributing the total cost of the year over the
estimated population of the Borough, it amounts to nearly 1s. 3½d.
per head. I give below the usual table, showing the number of
"refusals" and "no answers" given to the dustmen at their
weekly calls.
