The following table shows the distribution of the disease in the respective sub-districts of the Borough.

This table shows that scarlet fever was rather more prevalent
in the Central Sub-district than in the remaining sub-districts. The
deaths from scarlet fever numbered 27. This is equivalent to a
mortality rate of 22.2 per 1,000 attacked and 0.1l per 1,000 living
persons.
The mortality for London for the same disease during the same
period is 0.11 per 1,000 living persons.
Diphtheria and Membranous Croup.—There were 382 cases
of diphtheria and membranous croup notified in the Borough during
1908, but of these, 31 cases were subsequently found not to be
suffering from diphtheritic disease, thus reducing the genuine cases
of this disease to 351. This is a decrease of 118 upon the number
of genuine cases notified during 1907. The attack rate for the year
1908 is 1.5 per 1,000 living persons.
As may be seen from the chart, the incidence of the disease
