The Natural Increase of the population, i.e., the excess of births
over deaths, was 524 in 1907, as compared with 587 in 1906.
DEATHS.
The total deaths occurring in Hampstead during the year
amounted to 1056. Of these, however, no less than 330 were of
persons not belonging to the Borough, while 91 residents of
Hampstead died in outlying districts.
The total number of deaths, therefore, amongst persons
belonging to Hampstead amounted to 817.
This is the lowest number of Hampstead deaths occurring in
any year since 1894, when the number of deaths was 798. In that
year, however, the population of Hampstead was less by nearly
20,000 persons than it was in 1907.
Death-Rate.
The crude death-rate, that is, the rate calculated upon the total
number of deaths (whether of resident or non-resident persons)
occurring in the Borough during the year, was 11.6 per 1,000 of the
population; but after subtracting from the total deaths registered
the deaths of non-resident persons dying in Hampstead, and adding
the deaths of Hampstead residents who died outside the district,
