During the year information was received from the headmasters
of elementary schools in the Borough of the existence of 376 cases
of whooping cough.
CONSTITUTIONAL DISEASES.
Tuberculous Disease.—During 1905 there were 389 deaths in
the Borough due to tuberculous disease. They are grouped under
the following heads:—

General Tuberculosis 54
Tuberculous Meningitis 53
„ Peritonitis 11
Tabes Mesenterica 9
Tubercle of other organs 8

This is equal to a mortality rate of 1.7 per 1,000 living. The deaths were distributed in the different sub-districts in the following proportion:—
