MORTALITY AT DIFFERENT AGES.
Infantile Mortality. —Of the 2,047 deaths registered, 605 or
29 per cent. were of infants under one year, and the rate of
infant mortality measured by the proportion of deaths under
one year to births registered was 127 per 1,000. This is the
lowest infantile mortality yet recorded in Fulham—the lowest
previously reached having been 146 per 1,000 in 1900.
The corresponding rate of the County of London was 131
per 1,000, the rates in the various boroughs ranging from 88 in
Hampstead, 92 in Lewisham, and 95 in Holborn to 154 in
Poplar, 158 in Bermondsey, and 171 in Shoreditch.
In the 76 great towns of England and Wales the infantile
mortality averaged 144 per 1000.
The infantile mortality in the several wards was as under —
