ELECTRIC LIGHT CONDUCTORS.
Electric Light Conductors have been laid in portions of
the following streets, viz.:—
By the London Electric Supply Corporation: In Great
Windmill Street and St. James's Place.
By the St. James's and Pall Mall Electric Light Company:
In Argyll Place, Berwick Street, Brewer Street, Broad
Street, Carnaby Street, Chapel Court, Charles Street,
Coventry Street, Eagle Place, Foubert's Place, Ganton
Street, Glasshouse Street, Great Pulteney Street, Jermyn
Street, King Street, Little Pulteney Street, Lower Regent
Street, Marshall-Street, Mason's Yard, Ormond Yard, Pall
Mall, Peter Street. Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Regent
Street, Rupert Street, Ryder Street, St. James's Square,
St. James's Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Vigo Street,
Wardour Street, Waterloo Place and York Street.
In October last a burst occurred in one of the water
mains in Piccadilly, opposite St. James's Street. The water
escaping from the burst main travelled down St. James's
Street under the wood paving as far as Little St. James's
Street, where it found its way into the electric light conduits
of the St. James's and Pall Mall Electric Light Company,
thereby nearly extinguishing the electric light in the
houses in the neighbourhood for a considerable time.
