Fountain and the surfaces of sundry refuges were paved
with mastic asphalte ; and the cab-stands in Piccadilly
were re-asphalted.
FOOTWAYS.
The footway paving and kerbing of Boyle Street,
Charles Street (part), and Old Burlington Street (north
end) were taken up, squared and re-laid, and also small
portions of the footway paving of sundry other streets.
An alteration was made to the footway of Ingestre
Place, abutting on the Lion Brewery, to facilitate the
passing of vehicles up and down the street during the
loading of the brewer's drays.
OLD MATERIALS.
The quantities of old materials sold were 35 square feet
of York stone paving, 51½ loads of wood, 420 yards of old
pitching, 5 tons 8 cwt. 1 qr. of old iron, and 2 old
scraping machines.
WATER, &c., MAINS.
During the year new mains have been laid in the streets
or old ones replaced with new, as follows:—
By the Grand Junction Waterworks Company: In
Charles Street and Marshall Street.
By the London Hydraulic Power Company: In Beak
Street, Great Windmill Street, Lower Regent Street, New
Burlington Street, St. James's Place and Waterloo Place.
By the Gas Light and Coke Company: In Piccadilly
Circus and Charles Street.
By the National Telephone Company: In Piccadilly.
