be enclosed and an outside staircase erected, so
that all communication between this
floor and the other portions of the
Shelter would be cut off.
Temporary buildings for doctors, nurses, and
service generally, could easily be fitted with
every necessary appliance and accommodation
on the flat above.
The block assigned to the main structure is so
arranged as to prevent its occasional occupants
having access to the other buildings in the
Mortuary grounds, and the rooms assigned to
the Caretaker of the Shelter will be entirely
distinct from those of the Keeper of the
Mortuary, to avoid any clashing of duties.
The Chapel, in which the dead are to be kept
in decent custody until they are removed for
burial, will be placed in the most convenient
position for the relatives, mourners and undertakers
; and in the improbable event (judging
from past experience) of more accommodation
being wanted in emergencies, there will be
sufficient space in the post-mortem room.
