Attention was therein directed to the inaction
of that Board in not, as a first duty, availing
themselves of the powers conferred on them
by the new Act, so far as it relates to the
making of regulations for determining the
normal constituents in the case of milk, and
milk products, and in fact, once and for all, settling
the vexed question, "What is milk?"
It is with some satisfaction, therefore, to
learn the Board of Agriculture has now decided
to move in this direction, and that a Departmental
Committee has recently been appointed
by the President of the Board to thoroughly
investigate the subject, with a view of rendering
operative Section 4 of the Act referred to
above.
The Committee will be assisted in their
inquiries by the Chief Chemist to the Government
Laboratories and by representatives of the
various interests concerned, including agriculturists,
milk traders, and public analysts.
