addressed by the Town Clerk to them on the
subject.
This suggestion was adopted, and in due course
a communication was received from Whitehall
stating that the Local Government Board would
give the necessary instructions.
The matter now rests until such instructions
are sent; in the meantime the names of persons
applying to be placed on the register are received

A question has been raised, "What is a wholesale
dealer?" There are many firms nominally
carrying on a wholesale trade in Margarine who
never have an ounce of that substance on their
premises from one year's end to another.
This is explained by the common practice of
traders dispensing with a warehouse, the railway
companies offering ample facilities for storage at
their depots. All the books and accounts,
however, are kept at the City offices of the
merchants.
