The Birth, Death, and Zymotic Death-rates for 1893, the 10 previous years, and the decennial average for 1883-92, are shown in the following table:—

This building consists of 13 blocks, tenanted by 1,388
persons, viz., 1,141 adults, and 247 children under 5 years
of age.
There were 49 births in the year, corresponding to a
birth-rate of 35.3 per 1,000; and 24 deaths, equal to a
death-rate of 17'2 per 1,000.
6 of the deaths were those of young children, and 3 were
deaths from Zymotic diseases, viz., 2 diphtheria, and 1
scarlet fever.
9 deaths occurred in hospitals where the patients had
been removed for treatment.
