Of the Members who ceased to be qualified in consequence
of having left the District, the name of Mr.
Francis Smith as an old Member of the Board deserves
special mention.
Mr. Francis Smith had been for many years a Member
of the Board. At the last meeting which he attended
and took leave of his colleagues, the following resolution
was passed:— "Resolved unanimously that the Board
have received with sincere regret, the intelligence
that they are about to lose the services of their colleague
Mr. Francis Smith who has been for over 20 years a
Member of the Board, and they desire to tender to him and
to place upon record their high appreciation of the manner

been an active Member, and for two years filled the Chair of
the Works Committee. This report would, however, be incomplete

who had sat continuously on the Board. Mr. Hewitt has
rendered valuable services to the District, and for 3 years
represented it at the Metropolitan Board of Works.

Gaisford Gotto, who had been for many years a Member,
when the following resolution was passed:—
