Changes in the Personnel of the Board.
During the past year ten gentlemen who had been
Members of the Board ceased to be connected with it, of
these, three viz :—Messrs. Charles Baker, John Johnson,
and John Harmston Coulson died; Mr. Francis Smith,
and Drs. E. T. Watkins and John Watson left the District;
Mr. James Neale became disqualified, and Messrs. William
Henry Hewitt, Charles Fitz-Roy Doll and Reuben R.
Pattison were not re-elected on the expiration of their term
of office.
Of the deceased Members, special reference must be made
to Mr. Charles Baker who had been for 22 years a Member
of the Board; during the past few years of his life
failing health had prevented his taking so active a part in
the discharge of his duties as was his previous custom, the
services rendered by Mr. Baker in connection with parochial
matters were, however, of such a character that it would be
impossible to pass them over.
