THE BOARD OF WORKS
for the
St. Giles District
GENERAL REPORT.
The Past Year.
This Report embraces the period from the 26th day of
March, 1893, to the 25th day of March, 1894, a year of
considerable importance to Local Authorities in the
Metropolis, owing to the impending changes in Local
Government. The question of the " Unification of London,"
which is at the present time under the consideration of a
Royal Commission, is one of great importance to the Ratepayers,
and also affects the present Local Authorities ; it is
difficult to tell what shape the recommendations of the
Commission are likely to assume and it is not necessary to
here discuss the various suggestions which have been put
forward for consideration, but it will be sufficient to confine
this Report to a summary of the work which has been done
in the District during the past year.
