William Haarer, 57, Aldgate High Street.
The meat sold in the front shop is chiefly
slaughtered at Deptford, the slaughterhouse being
chiefly used for hanging beef in long sides. The
premises are in fair repair, though not of the
most modern construction. In the rear is a small
Pound, approached from Harrow Alley by a
private passage.
Horwitz and Abrahams, 58, Aldgate High
Street.
These are small premises in which little or no
slaughtering is done, the proprietors being chiefly
interested in the foreign cattle trade. A large
quantity of meat is sold to Jew butchers. The
slaughterhouse is chiefly used for hanging meat
in bulk. A small Pound at the back of the
slaughterhouse opens upon a private passage
leading from Harrow Alley. The roof of these
premises was found in a dilapidated and dangerous
condition, and repaired under the direction
of the District Surveyor, and by your order
slaughtering was prohibited until the structural
repairs were executed.
