THE WORK OF THE SANITARY INSPECTORS.
Tables VI. (Appendix) contains a summary of the
work of the Sanitary Inspectors during the year ended
March 25th, 1894. The work of the Inspectors is conducted
under the supervision of the Sanitary Committee, upon which
your Vestry have conferred, by resolution, power to carry
out the provisions of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891 ;
the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890; and the Factory
and Workshop Acts, 1878 to 1891. The staff having been increased
in 1892 by the addition of two Inspectors, it became
necessary to re-arrange the sanitary districts, and with
the approval of the Committee the Parish was then mapped

Northern Division of the Parliamentary Borough of Kensington,
to the north of the City and Hammersmith

of the Northern Division constituting the North-East
and the north-west Districts; Ladbroke Grove and
part of Ladbroke Grove Road being the dividing line.
The central District is, as before, that portion of the
Southern Division of the Borough which lies between the
centre of Notting Hill High Street, and Uxbridge Road, and
the centre of Kensington High Street and Kensington Road.
The remainder of the Southern Division constitutes the
South-East and the South-West Districts, the dividing
line running down Marloes Road and Lexham Gardens to
Cromwell Road, crossing that road and then running down
Collingham Road, the Boltons, and Gilston Road to Fulham
Road. The Inspector for the south-east District takes both
sides of Collingham Road, The Boltons, and Gilston Road.
The Inspector for the south-west District takes both sides
of Marloes Road and the whole of Lexham Gardens. Your
Vestry having resolved, in 1893, upon the recommendation
of the Sanitary Committee, to appoint an additional
Sanitary Inspector to take charge of that portion of
