VACCINATION.
The following Tables, furnished by Mr. Busby, the Vaccination
Officer, give the vaccination returns for 1898, and for the first six
months of 1899, those for the last six months not being yet
complete : —

The return for 1898 is the most unsatisfactory one that has been
issued, 13.6 per cent, of the children born in Fulham, or 15.2 per cent,
including cases postponed, appearing in the vaccination returns as
“ not finally accounted for,” the highest proportion hitherto having
been 10 per cent, in 1894.
BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS
More extended use has been made by medical practitioners of
the facilities afforded by the Vestry for the employment of bacteriological
examinations for the purposes of diagnosis, and the following
examinations were made during the year: —
Diphtheria. —Material from 139 cases was examined, and the
bacillus of Diphtheria was found in 76.
