The births registered in the year numbered 4,068, 2,092 males and 1,976
females. There was one birth to every 29.7 inhabitants, and 100 births of
males to 94.5 of females.
The 4,068 births correspond to a birth-rate of 34.8 per 1,000 of the
population which is the lowest birth-rate recorded in Fulham.
The rate for the whole of London was 30.2, being also the lowest on
record.

The following Table gives the number of births registered in Fulham; together with the birth-rate during the previous 10 years:—

The mean rate for the 10 years being 36.8.
The erection during the last four or five years of a considerable number
of moderate-sized " flats," tenanted largely by unmarried persons or by those
with small families, probably accounts for the diminution of the birth-rate.
