AREA AND DENSITY OF THE POPULATION.
The area of Fulham is 1,701 acres, and there are 67 persons to the acre
The County of London has an average density of 59. 2 persons to the acre,
ranging from 212 and 197 in St. George's, Southwark, and Whitechapel, to
20, 16, and 10, in Wandsworth, Lewisham and Plumstead.

ESTIMATED POPULATION AT MIDDLE OF 1896.
Assuming that the rate of increase which prevailed during between 1891
and 1896 is still maintained, the population at the middle of 1896 was
115,008, and on these figures the statistics in this report are based.
Marriages and Marriage Rate.
916 marriages were celebrated in Fulham during the year, the number
in the three preceding years being 809, 789, and 735. The marriage rate,
i.e., persons married per 1,000 inhabitants, was 15.6, the rate for the whole of
London being 18.0, and for England and Wales, 15.3.
