The above must be considered fairly satisfactory, as the highest rate is
not greatly in excess of that of the whole parish.
MORTALITY AT DIFFERENT AGES.
Infantile Mortality. —Of the 2,053 deaths registered 710 or 34.5 per cent,
were those of children under one year of age, and the rate of infant mortality
measured by the proportion of deaths under one year to births registered was
175 deaths to 1,000 births as compared with 177, 149 and 187 in the previous
three years.
The corresponding rate for the whole of London was 161 deaths per
1,000 births, ranging from—123 in Hampstead, 126 in Stoke Newington.
