The whole of the new works are being carried out
by direct labour, and under the Government Unemployment
Scheme.
Closet Accommodation and Scavenging.—There are no
earth closets or privies, and the ashpits consist of movable
receptacles. There are very few cesspools, and these
are at the extreme end of the district, being dealt with
by the owners.
The district is divided into two areas for the purpose
of house refuse collection, two horse carts and men being
allocated to each district, whice enables the refuse to be
collected once in each week.
