outside sources, over which, unless under special circumstances,
we have no control whatever. What are the
essentials of a properly constructed cowshed? There
should, at any rate, be good drainage, a floor of some
hard non-absorbent material properly graded and drained,
plenty of light and ventilation, walls and ceilings frequently
whitewashed, a good water supply, and the
surroundings clean and well kept, the cows being kept

more uniform and efficient administration of legislation
in connection with the whole question of milk supply.

inspection is made from time to time, but not systematically.
No carcases or parts were found to be tuberculous.
There is no inspector with a special qualification in meat
inspection.
BAKEHOUSES.
There are six registered bakehouses in the district.
They have been inspected and reported upon several
times during the year. All are well constructed, lighted
