VACCINATION RETURN FOR 1907.

Through the kindness of the Vaccination Officer, Mr. A. Bone, I am able this year to supply the following statistics of vaccination in the district:—

Number not yet dealt with (majority of these are under
4 months), 48. Total, 300.
DISINFECTION OF INFECTED PREMISES, ETC.
Details of the number of premises, articles, etc.,
disinfected or destroyed will be found in the Sanitary
Inspector's return at end of Report. Rooms are disinfected
by fumigation with Formalin and Sulphur in combination,
walls and wooden surfaces being sprayed with
strong Formalin solution if necessary. Disinfectants, are
supplied free to any household in which infectious sickness
occurs. There is a small steam apparatus for disinfecting
bedding, blankets, and woollen garments, when required.
SANITARY WORK (SUMMARY).
Sixty-one premises were inspected in connection with
Infectious Diseases, and 48 on complaint of nuisances.
19 houses, premises, etc., were cleansed or repaired; 47
cautionary notices were given. No unsound food was
discovered. 51 caravan, nuisances were dealt with and
moved on. 8 sanitary conveniences were supplied or
repaired. The nuisances chiefly dealt with were smoke,
refuse accumulations, foul ditches, animals, dampness of
premises, yards requiring re-paving, and overcrowding.
