WATER SUPPLY.
The supply of water to the District for domestic
purposes is drawn from deep wells sunk in the chalk at
Bushey and Eastbury belonging to the Colne Valley Water
Company.
The supply is constant and of good quality.
RIVERS AND STREAMS.
The Council has not received any intimation from the
Middlesex County Council as to the pollution of rivers in
the District.
Polluttions of wayside ditches and water courses have been
promptly dealt with.
DRAINACE AND SEWERAGE.
The present sewersge system of the District has been
sufficient to deal with the developments which have arisen
during this year, with the exception of the extension of a
sewer already referred to in connection with the Chalkhill
Estate.
The two sewage disposal works which have been described at
length in my previous reports have continued to work
satisfactorily and no complaints have been received concerning
them.
CLOSET ACCOMMODATION.
All new houses erected in the District during the year
have been provided with proper water closets fitted with
flushing apparatus. With the exception of two houses, all have
been connected to the main sewerage system, the remaining two
were connected to a cesspool, no sewer being within accessible
distance.
About 97% of the houses in the District are supplied with water
closet accommodation, the remaining ??? are earth and patl closets.
