SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
All parts of the district continued to develop during 1933
at a rapid rate; shopping areas have largely increased, and
the extension of the Metropolitan Railway has added considerably
to the progress.
WATER SUPPLY.
The water supply continues to be ample. No shortage
took place during the dry Summer of this year.
RIVERS AND STREAMS.
The Middlesex County Council is the responsible
Authority for the various duties connected with the above.
CLOSET ACCOMMODATION.
All new houses are connected to the main sewerage
system.
DRAINAGE AND SEWERAGE.
All extensions of soil sewers have been laid by and at
the expense of the land developers.
Further extensions to the Sewage Disposal Works have
been carried out to deal with the increasing population.
MAKING UP OF PRIVATE STREETS.
During 1933 17 streets were made up by the Council
under the Public Health Act, 1875, and a further 27 are in
actual progress or in the preliminary stage.
Including the above 81 streets have been made up, or
are being dealt with since 1929.
The practice of some developers of making up the
streets themselves under arrangement with the Council has
proved a great asset from all points of view.
