All these properties are outside the drainage areas
and in isolated parts of the parishes.
South Stifford is completely connected to the
Thurrock, Grays and Tilbury Joint Board's main sewer,
and the district known as the Nutberry Estate in North
Stifford is also sewered. In the remaining portion of
this Ward there are 47 cesspools and 26 pail closets.
During the year there was an extension of sewers
in Rectory Road, Little Thurrock, and also an extension
commenced at North Stifford. This latter will be completed
early in the coming year.
The laying of sewers at Langdon Hills was completed,
and arising therefrom, your Inspectors have
supervised the work of connecting up 91 houses to the
new sewers. This has entailed an enormous amount of
work with a depleted staff, and this cannot truly be
realised without it being mentioned that some 1933
yards of stoneware drains were laid with the accompanying
sanitary fittings, necessitating 242 water or air tests.
Sewerage Disposal.—The facilities under this heading
were reported upon in 1934, and no change therein
has occurred.
