The above figures do not include 24 rabbits which
were surrendered.
During the year commencement was made at
Tilbury Docks of the importation of live cattle from
the Dominions. After communication with the Port of
London Sanitary Authority it was agreed that the
supervision of the emergency slaughter-houses, &c.,
should be controlled by your Authority.

C. Adulteration.
The Essex County Council is the Authority under
the Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act, 1928; the
Artificial Cream Act, 1929; the Public Health (Condensed
Milk) Regulations, 1923 and 1927, the Public
Health (Dried Milk) Regulations, 1923 and 1927, and the
Public Health (Preservatives, &c. in Food) Regulations
1925 and 1927.
D. Chemical and Bacteriological Examination of
Food.
This is carried out at the instance of the County
Council by the Counties Public Health Laboratories,
Queen Victoria Street, London, E.C.4.
E. Nutrition.
Articles on diet, food value, and general hygiene,
written by the Medical Officer of Health, appear at
intervals in the local Press.
