ANNUAL REPORT
op the
Inspector of Nuisances
For the Year ending 1906.
To the Orsett Rural District Council.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have much pleasure in submitting my Annual
Report for the year ending 1906.
NUISANCES.
I have received during the past year forty-one
complaints of nuisances, and have found without
complaints, two hundred and sixty—making a total of
three hundred and one, which have all been abated.
I have found it necessary to serve eighty-one notices
for the abatement of nuisances, which duly received
attention ; the rest were abated by request by letter, and
in no case had proceedings to be taken for the abatement
of same.
HOUSES INSPECTED.
There have been during the past year five hundred
houses and premises inspected, and two hundred and
twenty-four houses have been disinfected, in the majority,
after cases of Scarlet Fever.
BEDDING, &c.
Bedding is moved after cases of infectious disease and
disinfected, and returned to the owners free of charge.
OVERCROWDING.
There has been one case of overcrowding which was
promptly abated after serving the usual notice.
WATER CERTIFICATES.
There have been one hundred and thirty-two Water
Certificates granted. The majority have been connected
with the South Essex Water Co.'s main.
NEW WEEDS.
There have been ten new Wells sunk in Langdon Hills
and Bulphan, samples of the water having been submitted
to the Medical Officer of Health and passed by him as fit
