HOUSES CONNECTED TO SEWERS.
There have been a number of houses connected
to the Public sewers, and in some cases where
nuisances existed, notices have been served upon
the owners to abate and connect to the Public sewer.
The inspection of drainage and connections have
been supervised by me in several cases.
WATER SUPPLIES.
A considerable number of houses have had the
water laid on from the mains, I have inspected the
fittings, &c. in each case before certificates have
been granted.
BAKEHOUSES.
I have inspected the several Bakehouses and kept
the owners up to the Act re Lime washing, &c., and
I must say they are in good condition.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
I very often inspect these, and as required, have
the walls and byres thoroughly limewashed, any
drainage defects, or offal refuse found lying about,
the owner is notified to at once attend to same.
DAIRIES AND COWSHEDS.
There are in this district twenty-nine Cowsheds
and twenty-four Dairies and Milk Shops of which
are constantly inspected by me, and are generally
in very good condition. In no case is any person
registered until his premises have been carefully
inspected by me, and anything not satisfactory must
be attended to before I recommend them for registration.
PRIVY CLOSETS.
A considerable number of Privy Closets have
been repaired and in some cases made easier of
access for cleansing purposes.
