ANNUAL REPORT
of the
Inspector of Nuisances
For the Year ending 1903.
Orsett Rural Sanitary District.
I beg to report that during the past year ending
1903, there has been sixty-five houses disinfected
after cases of infectious diseases, of which, in each
case, the disinfections have been personally carried
out by me. The method is by using Sulphur in
the form of prepared candles.
After the fumigations of Bedrooms, &c., notices
are served upon the owners, or occupiers, to have
all wall-papers stripped and burnt on the premises,
and the walls and ceilings thoroughly cleaned ; in
cases where the houses are dirty, the whole of the
house is thoroughly cleaned. All bedding and
wearing apparel is conveyed in a closed van to the
steam disinfector and disinfected, and returned to
the owners.
The Schoolmasters of the respective schools are
notified at once, by notice, from the M. O. of Health,
of any case of infectious disease that occurs so that
no child is allowed to attend school from an infected
house. After an infectious case is convalescent and
the fumigation, &c. has been carried out, notice is
again sent by me to the Schoolmaster, where the
child attends school, that he or she may return.
Disinfectants are supplied by me in all cases of
infectious diseases, also to any one who requires it
for sinks, drains, &c.
