Diseases of the Brain and Nervous System.
From these diseases 297 deaths occurred, 58 in Clapham,
29 in Putney, 95 in Streatham, 38 in Tooting, and 77 in
Wandsworth.
The number of deaths is 39 under last year.
14 of the deaths were due to Meningitis, 145 to Cerebral
Hæmorrhage or Apoplexy, 15 to Convulsions, three to Softening
of the Brain, 21 to Paralysis, 15 to General Paralysis of the
Insane, 10 to Locomotor Ataxy, 11 to Epilepsy, and 63 to other
diseases of the Nervous System.
Circulatory Diseases.
From the above group of diseases, 558 deaths occurred,
-115 of which, 177 males and 238 females, were due to Organic
disease of the Heart.
111 of these deaths occurred in Clapham, 56 in Putney, 206
in Streatham, 51 in Tooting, and 134 in Wandsworth.
334 of the deaths were of persons over 65 years of age.
The number of deaths is 25 less than in 1920, but is 42 above
the corrected decennial average.
Respiratory Diseases.
The total number of deaths was 585, 102 in Clapham, 47 in
Putney, 191 in Streatham, 68 in Tooting, and 177 in Wandsworth.
