The purity of food has been carefully guarded by the Food Inspector,
while all Inspectors have contributed to ensuring that the food supply
in the Borough is of a high standard.
During the year, the Borough Council lost the services of one of its
most efficient Officers by the death of Mr. Harry Allam. Although
handicapped by ill-health over a prolonged period, it was characteristic
of Mr. Allam that he insisted upon continuing to discharge his duties
until a few days before his sudden death.
The Staff has responded well to the ever increasing duties devolving
upon the Public Health Department.
I should like to express my appreciation of the work done by
Dr. Donnelly and Dr. Hill in their respective Departments of
Tuberculosis and Maternity and Child Welfare and my thanks to the
Staff generally, for their loyal assistance in carrying out so efficiently
the work of the Public Health Department.
Your obedient Servant,
F. Leonard Keith,
Medical Officer of Health.
